IFS certification explained

What IFS Certified Practitioner is, the tracks, the exam, who can access IFS Academy and whether it is worth it. Updated 10 October 2026.

Short answer. IFS certification is run by IFS Academy. The main credential is IFS Certified Practitioner, awarded per product area of IFS Cloud. You earn it by passing an exam and keep it through annual recertification. Badges are issued through Credly.

The certifications

Practitioner certifications exist for consultants in Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Projects, Maintenance and Human Capital Management, plus a Presales Consultant track. Each one attests to an in-depth understanding of that part of IFS Cloud and a good understanding of the overall solution.

IFS describes its product-based pathway as moving from Practitioner to Expert, supported by digital learning paths, specialist workshops and classroom training for functional and technical roles.

The exam

Using Finance Consultant (IFS Cloud) as the example: 60 questions, 70% to pass. It covers General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. Holders recertify each year as new IFS Cloud releases change the product.

How to get access

IFS Academy for Partners is aimed at IFS partner staff, who register through the partner learning portal. That is one reason joining a partner is the common way in. If you work at an IFS customer or as a freelancer, contact IFS Academy and ask which courses and exams are open to you.

Is it worth it?

It helps most early on, when you have little project history to point to, and when moving from Apps 9 or 10 to IFS Cloud. For senior roles, employers weigh completed implementations more heavily than badges. 57 of the 155 roles on the board today name IFS Cloud, so Cloud-specific proof is useful either way.

Not the food standard

Searches for "IFS certification" also return IFS Food and other International Featured Standards audits. Those are unrelated to IFS, the enterprise software company.
