IFS Cloud vs IFS Applications 10: what changes for consultants

How IFS Cloud differs from Apps 10 for people who implement and support it, and what to learn. Updated 10 October 2026.

Short answer. IFS Cloud replaced IFS Applications 10 as the current product. For consultants the big changes are a single browser-based user experience, two feature releases a year (named like 25R1 and 25R2) with service updates in between, and a strong push away from core modifications toward configuration and API-based extensions.

What is different

  • One web client. The older IFS Enterprise Explorer desktop client is gone. Everything runs in the browser.
  • Release cadence. Two releases a year plus regular service updates, so customers stay current continuously instead of doing a big upgrade every few years.
  • Fewer modifications. Staying on the update path means keeping the core clean and using configuration, extensions and APIs.
  • Broader scope. ERP, EAM and service management sit on one platform, with AI features added release by release.

What it means for your career

57 of 155 open roles on this board (37%) name IFS Cloud. Apps 9 and 10 experience is still valuable, because many customers are mid-upgrade and need people who know both sides. The quickest way to stay marketable is to get onto an upgrade project.
